Default Gambit Import error

I am trying to import a .msh file created for Fluent 5/6 (using gambit). All I have is the .msh file. When I import I get the following error.

ERROR: The Fidap Neutral file header (record 1) is non standard. ERROR: Error encountered while reading the header information. Gambit is unable to import |utility fe2ram -m1e-006 -d2 -tRAMPANT -oFIDAP7 "filename"

Further information may be available in the Gambit start window/terminal.

The window/terminal says:

Error: bad syntax, usage ..... ....usage for utility ....

The .msh file can be downloaded from http://www.stanford.edu/class/me469b...oad/nlr.msh.gz

In this file I want to change the wall boundary condition, which I feel is applied by mistake. It should have been interior.

Please help me....

This error is perfectly normal. To solve your problem, do this: - read the .msh file in Fluent - save it as .cas file - read it back into Gambit, importing as Fluent 5/6 .cas 2D file. This will work absolutely sure (I already tried it), belive me. By the way, looks pretty nice! Hope this will help you.

Best wishes, Razvan

Dear Razvan,

Thanks for your suggestion. But by saving it as a .cas file and reading it in Gambit I am still getting the same error. What should I do.

thanks

Anshul

From the error, it sounds like you're doing:

File->Import->Mesh, and uder "Type" you're using "Gambit"...

This only imports *.neu files. Try switching the "Type" to "Fluent 5/6" (making sure your dimensions are set right, either 2D or 3D) and opening the *.cas file you created.

Hope this helps, Jason

Thank you for the suggestion. But I am using Fluent 5/6 as the type. Still it gives an error. I was able to open this file in TGRID. I had earlier given the link for the mesh file, please try it for your self. If it works can you mail me the GAMBIT .dbs file.
