Default Max.allowable flow rate in a packed bed

Hi all,

I am trying to simulate flow of water through a packed bed (say porous media).I give certain flow rate to the solver.I want to know,if its possible by Fluent to determine the max permissible flow rate through the packed bed so that the packing in the bed does not dislocate/dislodge or gets carried away by the flow.

In reality, you cannot exceed certain flow-rates.I want to know if Fluent can tell you that.In my model, even if I give practically not possible flow rates,it shows me the contours, which in reality may not happen.

Any solutions???

Mamata.

Most likely Fluent doesn't have easy option for this, but it might be possible with UDF. At least you can define the viscous and inertial resistance coefficients with UDF.
