hi i am very much a newbie in fluent and doing a project in it . i have to make a geometry which is as follows:- [GAMBIT 2.1] 1)a cylindrical pipe of length 6m and radius 0.1m 2)the entrance(only the entrance) is an annulus with inner face of radius 0.05m .two fluids are coming through this annular entrance one in the outside region and other one in the inner region(there is no more annulus boundary inside the pipe only at the entrance). 3)there are 3 square planes at 1m from the inlet of pipe ,each of side .05m placed at 120 degrees to each other attached to the pipe with only two vertices of each plane(the ends of one of the edges) attached to the pipe.

I have meshed the pipe and all the planes successfully but

Now the problem is that i have created all of these things but am not able to join the 3 smaller planes with the surface of pipe so when i read it in FLUENT 6.2 it says the 3 planes are unreferenced faces so removes them and solves it as a plane pipe problem so how do i join the planes with pipe ??

will be thankful for your support

What's happening is that they aren't part of the volume. They're just kind of floating inside the volume. So when you create the volume mesh of the pipe, it doesn't actually use these faces, even if you mesh these faces before you mesh the volume. What you need to do is before you mesh the volume, you need to split the volume with these faces. The volume will now have a slice in it where each of the faces were. Now you can mesh your volume and attach your boundary conditions.

Hope this helps, and good luck, Jason
