Boundary Layer Meshing of a nosecone

Hello everyone, Please help! I am trying to simulate (in 2D) the airflow over the AIM9X Sidewinder Missile in horizontal flight using Fluent v6 but am having serious problems creating a good mesh around the missile using Gambit. I have created a "control box" face around the missile which is inside the face for the domain boundary. Having created a boundary layer mesh around the whole missile I need to mesh the control box. This is causing problems since it is distorting/changing the boundary layer mesh around the nosecone only. The nosecone is constructed using the conic function shouldered at a vertex that represents the tip of the nosecone.
So far the boundary layer mesh around the nose cone has been changed in one of two ways: 1) As if the nosecone were triangular shaped 2) As if the nosecone didn't exist! i.e. the boundary layer mesh does vertically downwards at the missile end of the nosecone. how do i mesh the control box without affecting the boundary layer mesh around the nosecone??? Thanks |

PLEASE IGNORE/DELETE THIS THREAD. MY DOMAIN IS NOW A PARABOLIC SHAPE ALTHOUGH I AM STILL HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE BOUDARY LAYER MESH!
I HAVE A LICENSE LIMIT OF 100,00 ELEMENTS BY THE WAY. THANKS |
