Hi!I'm working on Natural convection between horizontal plates which are open ended so the air can go in and out between two plates. the plates are open to environment and bottom plate is hotter then top plate. my question is how can i model my plates in GAMBIT? (i've tried but i couldn't manage to draw it) if anyone can draw it and e-mail me or tell any clue about it i'll be so glad. also can you tell me what are my inlet , outlet and side boundaries. what should i enter for them (like velocity inlet, pressure outlet...)? I'm looking for your messages. thx.

If you need to model the conduction of heat with the solid plates, then you will need to create these in gambit. However, if you are only interested in the temperature/velocity distribution in the fluid, you will only need to mesh the space between them.
As for boundary conditions, if you know the velocity at inlet, use a velocity inlet B.C. if you know the pressure, use a pressure inlet. Pressure outlet and outflow are both good choices for the outlet. In the tutorial section there is a tutorial called "postprocessing" about chip cooling. The .cas and .dat files are avaliable. Maybe this might be of use to you? |
