Default help with grid zones

Guys,

I have the following problem. Got an imported grid in Plot3D fromat, inported into Gambit. Wanted to define a zone (later on BC in Fluent) on certain elements (which is part of a face but it is not the whole face). I.e. wanted to define 2 separate zones on a face. Is it possible or I can just define a zone on a geometric entity? When I try to split the face using the split of meshed faces it errors out.

Thanks in advance
