Meshing irregular XYZ data

Hi all,
I am a bit new to this but I am trying to mesh a river-floodplain system for input into FLUENT. The data I have is irregularly spaced XYZ data from which i would like to interpolate between the points and make a 3d surface. Can Gambit do this, I notice that Gambit has a line interpolation tool although I am yet to find a surface interpolation tool. Does anyone know of any method in which i could mesh such a system which has quite complex topography? Also on a secondary note, I am running Gambit 2 with Hummingbird Exceed 8 over a network but have a problem with the menu bars in Gambit being squashed craeting difficulties reading some of the options, does anyone know the reason for this? Many Thanks, Duncan. |

Hi Duncan I had a very similar problem trying to create a surface of a complex dune system. At the end I gave up and produced first a raster (in a GIS) and imported a regular grid of the surface (X,Y,Z coordinates). With this I could create a face using the "vertex rows" tools and that produced quite good results. But I am very interested if somebody comes up with a more direct solution. Good luck
