For a gas-solid two-phase flow, there are 10 components in the gas phase and chemical reactions take place among the components. Is Fluent able to model such kind of system with flow and reactions? Your any answer is highly appreciated.

Why no answer at all? Isn't there anybody here to do simulation for multihpase flow with chemical reactions? Or is it beyond the ability of Fluent? I need your reply for helping me to make a decision whether to apply Fluent? Thank you anyway.

Hi Klawu, Fluent can do such simulations but not simultaneously. I mean you will not be able to use a multiphase flow model and Fluent's reaction model simultaneously. you will have to establish flow pattern (cold flow simulation) first and then use User Defined Scalar (UDS)for defining your reaction source terms. as far as I know, Fluent 6.2 will have the capability to simulate flow and reaction/s simultaneously. as a caution, you may look at memory requirements though. Fluent's User Manual will be the best guide for your questions.
Best of luck! Swarup |
