Default Compiling and Running UDFs on an IBM Power3

I have always used SUN computers to run Fluent and use UDFs. Thus I create an ultra directory and run the make command. I will soon be running an IBM with Power 3 (multiple CPUs) , so I assume I will make a power3 directory and run the make command. 2 Questions.

1. Are there any difficulties running UDFs on an IBM Power 3 with multiple CPUs?

2. The IBM computer is remote and I would like to keep the source file on my local SUN machine and just ftp the compiled binaries. Is it possible to compile for the power3 platform on a SUN machine or must I be on an IBM?

Thanks in advance
