Default to mesh a surface with cut

hi i have question that i have rudder with cut on the surface.i wantt o see what cut surface has effect on flow.how i mesh it and how farfield boundary created i have used subtaract volume command and it did not work.i tried by exruding surface of rudder but it did not work can any body help nabeel
