couple two walls in fluent - how?

Hi, all,
Does anyone know how I can couple two seprate walls in fluent? I know I can use "grid -> modify-zones -> slit-face-zone" to slit a coupled wall zone into two distinct, uncoupled wall zones, but I need the exact oppsite operation. I know know to make a couple wall boundary condition with gambit but this isn't an option for me. Because in my case, I generated the meshes for solid and fluid volumes seperately with GAMBIT and merge them with TGRID. This way, the interfacial faces between solid and fluid volumes becames two seperate wall boundaries. Therefore I need to connect them, either in TGRID or in FLUENT, but I don't know how. Help please. PS. The surface meshes for the interfacial faces are not identical for the wall boundaries attached to fluid volumes and those done to solid ones. |

Hi,
You should create a non-conformal interface between two continuums. Check out Fluent tutorial #6. The interface should be defined as coupled as it lies in between solid and fluid domains. Regards, Emre |

Emre, Thanks a lot for your response.
However, I tried to create grid interfaces and couple them. It did not work. I could change the zone types for the boundaries from wall to interface, but when I tried to craete a couple interface, I got the error as following: Error: fluent.6.1.18 received a fatal signal (SEGMENTATION VIOLATION). Error Object: #f Note: zone-surface: cannot create surface from sliding interface zone. Creating empty surface. I also searched this forum about the sliding interface zone error but could not find useful solutions. Any further suggestions? Or help from anyone? Thanks. |
