Hi all, I have problems with importing file to Gambit, I tried the IGS, but that didn't work, it gave me an error saying "the list of faces contains faces whose edges cannot be connected" So I tried with STEP file, and there's still error coming, the first one is saying that I should use AP203 option in the originating CAD system during STEP export (the current one is said to be AP214), and "IDEAS users are advised to use the following IDEAS step export from before writing STEP file, Settings -> System -> "d-203-is-default" What does it means?
Gambit will still load up the image though, but when I tried to create a volume, it gave me the same error as in the IGS file. What does the error means? Also the image was not perfect, lots of details are missing. Does the this error come from Gambit or from the software I used to saved the file in STEP/IGS format? The object was laser scanned, and then transferred to solidworks, in SW, its OK, nothing wrong with it. Any recomendations on how to solve it? Your help is greatly appreciated Thank you Patrick |

I don't have any experience with laser-scanned objects, but if you have good geometry in SW, then it should be transferred to Gambit best through Acis or Step format. I use Acis (file extension SAT) and everything is fine.
As to the error with unconnected edges - this is a more general problem. Even if you design the geometry in SW from scratch, the program uses different tolerances than G. for all unit ooperations so that after import in Gambit, your geometry may be seen by it as slightly deformed or contain errors. So you need to learn how to clean up the geometry in Gambit. |
