For a combustion problem in which I have a premixed mixture of fuel and air inside a combustion chamber and in which combustion is started by spark ignition, which model is appropriate to use?

Thanks, Shankar.

Hi,

You have a couple of option available to you to model this.

Firstly you can use the species transport approach and use a simple chemical reaction mechanism.

Secondly you can use the premixed combustion model of Zimont. This second model is vey nice. I have used it before and it gives some useful information. It doesn't provide a species distribution though so it depends what you are trying to find out from your study.

Hello Tom,

Thanks for your response. Is it possible to model a combustion process, without inlets or outlets. Say, we let in the fuel mixture inside a chamber, close it, we start the combustion and then we let the exhaust out.

And I want to focus only on the intermediate stage.

In what situation do we use partially premixed model?

Thanks, Shankar.

Hi

I have a similar question...did you get a solution to your problem? If so could you share it with me? Thank you.
