Hi Everyone,
I have been trying to get my hands on the dynamic mesh tutorial in Fluent 6.1 but am unable to get forward from BUILDING the source file written in C. The message that I get on the console is some what like this Couldn't find the specified file open_udf_libudf. Also it points out that "nmake is not a recognizable command" I would be greatful to anyone who can help me with this. Plus if any one can provide some tips on writing a UDF for a moving wall case. I have the equations and only have to integrate with solver. |

hi,
Do you have visual studio? You need it in order to use compiled udf's. I have the same problem and I have tried to change the udf into an interpreted udf (as I donīt have visual studio) but it's not straight forward. I have tried other compilers but it seems that it has to be visual studio...If you find a solution please let me know. thanks. |

Hi,
If you work with dynamic mesh modeling in windows platform, it's quite necessary that you have one c/c++ compiler, e.g.,visual c++ 6.0, this is the requisite with which you can work with dyn-mesh-modeling. Dyn-mesh-modeling can only be worked successfully with compiled udf, not interpreted udf!!!Another thing is, if all the necessary directories and files which you created in order to load in and build with your certain udf-library are all right built and put in the right place??? hope it helps a bit! Regards, Emma |

I don't get you clearly. You mean to say that you are not able to find the files you mentioned or you couldn't open them in fluent?
Well these files come with the software and are contained in the folder tutorial file and further in dynamic mesh folder. You need to copy them to a separate folder for using them in Fluent instead of working with the original one. The folder also contains solution files and animation files. Once you start the tutorial exercise, all the steps are very clearly mentioned and if you do it right you can run the tutorial easily. For using the UDF for this problem, you will first open the msh file and then follow the steps and once you reach the stage of calling in the UDF you will have to go to the folder where you had the *.c file copied, add it, build it, and then load it. Make sure that you have Microsoft Visual Studio 6 installed. And then follow the rest of the tutorial. I hope I've coverd in some detail the problem's solution. Take care & enjoy! Qureshi |
