When using a UDF to implement a BC does the profile have to be a continuous function or can you insert specific points on the boundary and have Fluent fill in the gaps.
Thanks for your help |

I do nto think u can think of FLuent filling the gap. You have two options:
(1) define a profile (2) read data from a file for the mesh points I donot think any other method works. Murali |

You can interpolate your data and implement the equation you obtained in a UDF.

Maybe you do not explain your problem cleasly. if you want to define a function along the boundary, it is simple. if you want to define an incontinuous boundary condition on the two sides of the boundary, it can be implemented by UDF.

Thanks for your help. What I have is a 2-D boundary plane on which I will know velocities at cerain points in a grid taken from experimental data. From what you've said I will use a math program to create a function from the velocities and then use a UDF to implement it, unless someone knows of a better way.

you can give your data points through piecewise linear function.. But I dont know how actually works.. c the fluent manual for B.C.
