Default Skewness of mesh

Hi,

This is about meshing in Gambit.

Does anyone know what is the cause for a mesh to be skewed, and how it may be corrected? I have tried varying the size of the meshes, but it doesn't seem to remove the "offending" skewed grids...

Thanks in advance

Did you check the Geometry? Sometimes there are "mistakes" in the geometry like two points that are so close together, that they appear as a single edge. This sometimes happens when importing the geometry from other programs. Make shure, that there are no mistakes in the geometry (Zoom in on corners).

Hello Lars,

I have tried that. Mine is a 3-D model, so while the faces have non-skewed 2-D meshes, when I do a T-grid volume mesh, it generates 2 or 3 highly skewed 3-D triangular meshes in the middle of the volume!

Do you know what I could do next?

Thanks a mill!

I dont know! We had the same problem and I finally set up the problem in Gambit directly, without importing the geometry from autocad. Try meshing only the edges and than mesh the volume directly, without meshing the faces. You can also try to seperate the volume and mesh them with different spacing to get a smaller mesh at the zones that create the problem.
