Hi everybody! Does anyone knows where i can find more news about moving and deforming mesh feature in FLUENT 6.0? The guide has only one tutorial about a cranck compressor, but i need more about external flow, and especially on how to define the moving deforming zones with the UDF. Maybe someone of you has already worked on this new feature and can send me just some documents!!!
Thank you in advance!! Riccardo |

hi,Riccardo I am going to do study using the moving and deforming mesh feature, but till now i have no idea on this. Would you like to tell me what are you going to do using this feature? I hope to consult and discuss with you. Would you like to give me a copy of the only one case file? Thank you anyway!

Hi,
You got to have special license for using MDM feature in Fluent. The procedure to set up the case depends on your model. For example,if you are modelling a square cavity in which the inlet is moving, then 1)dynamic layering should be used for MDM method with appropriate layering constant. 2)the inlet is given a rigid body motion, the motion can be constant,or function of time defined through a profile file or through udf. Hope this helps you. sri 3 |

hi,sri
Thank you! Now the MDM feature in Fluent can be used , but I don't have the only case file (cy13d.msh)in Fluent. If you have, would you like to give me a copy? And more examples on this feature? Because I am really a novice and I am urgent to use it. I am looking forward to your reply. Thanks in advance! |

Does anyone use moving and deforming mesh in FLUENT to move and deform a WING? There are always example for compressor.... but not for flying thing!!! Bye Riccardo

Hi Bonny,
I can pass on a simple MDM problem, but I was wondering where I can transfer them.Memory of the file would be a point of concern. sri |

Hi sri,
could you please send me a example that you have about moving deforming mesh in fluent my case is exactly the same as you mention it before.i want to model a square cavity which the top face of it moves with the function like sin(1000*t). i want to model this cavity with dynamic mesh in fluent. i see this warning " incorrect grid motion UDF unsteady_velocity on zone 6 (assuming no motion)" when i want to link my udf to my dynamic mesh zone. what should i do in order to remove this warnings.is it necessary to have any boundary condition? i will appreciate any recommendation of you.my email is:sharifi.fatemeh@gmail.com Thanks in advance! fatemeh sharifi |

No problem, I undestand!
This problem occurs when I hook the UDF under Dynamic Mesh-Dynamic Zones-User Defined. When I change User Definer per Rigid Body, there is no Warning, but the solution diverges: # Divergence detected in AMG solver: pressure coupled -> Decreasing coarsening group size! # Divergence detected in AMG solver: pressure coupled -> Increasing relaxation sweeps! Error: Divergence detected in AMG solver: pressure coupled Error: Divergence detected in AMG solver: pressure coupled Error Object: #f I'm solving a problem of a simple cylinder moving due the forces the water does on it. Do you know what I need to specify to the fluid zone around the wall (the cylinder) in order to avoid the solution to diverge? Thanks! |

Maybe this could help. The mesh files and the udf files are available if you look through the web.
