If a surface is set to "trap" the particle is then instantly evaporated once it strikes. This is bad if you actually want it to deposit to the surface rather than add to the fluid phase. This appears to be the the only option. Is there a way to actually trap the particle whereby its mass is then allowed to deposit onto the surface and added to the accretion rate?
(Calling the surface a "reflect" surface with a coeff of rest. = 0 doesn't work either, since the solver will not add it to the accretion in this case either.) Any ideas? |

Your problem requires a dual pronged approach. First, Since you do not want the vaporizing drops to participate further in the solution, use the "escape" wall bc. Secondly, you can use a UDF to keep track of your particle-wall interactions (see http://www.fluentusers.com/fluent6/d...ne-dpm-erosion)

Hi Lanre and Bob,
I am trying to simulate the solid partilce agglomeration on a surface in a complex multiphase flow. I m wondering if FLUENT consider the effect of the trapped-partilces on the surface when it simulates the interactions of other partilces with the surface. It would be appreciated if you can help me with this. If FLUENT cannot do it should I switch to OpenFoam software? Thanks, Amir |

Actually I am familiar with what you said but my question is that : Can FLUENT consider the effect of the trapped particle on the surface for particle agglomeration? I really need to know FLUENT ability about particle build up simulation. Any idea? |
