Dear all
I am trying to model a design I have for a disaster shelter for natural disasters. I have used Fluent and Gambit before, but I have never used FIDAP. I am using WIN 2000, and I am finding it hard to start the gui program. I need some general starters tips for FIDAP, including starting the program and information on modelling. I think this would be a great use of Fluent's fluid-structure interaction program, as new, and good disaster shelters a drastically needed. Cheers again Andy |

You first need exceed6.2 ,then read chapter 2 or 3 in the Fidap user manual which will tell you how to start GUI program. Good luck

I have read this but I do not know which commands to type into the command prompt to get it to work.

1 edit a *.bat file ,included command as follow:
set FLEX_LM_LICENSE=c:\Fluent.inc\license\license.dat fidap -id example -g 2 save this file to your working directory. 3 add a shortcut in your desktop. 4 double click the shortcut. |

Unlike Fluent, Fidap cannot be started from the "Start" menu. It must be started from the command line. So, just open a Command Prompt window and type in:
> fidap -id test -gui Provided that you have installed Fidap correctly and the license manager is working ok, you should see Fidap GUI coming up. If you have never used Fidap, then you may want to attend an introductory course, since Fidap GUI is completely different than Fluent GUI. As far as modeling goes, have a look at the balloon expansion problem in Fidap 8.6 Update manual. |
