Two boundary conditions on the same surface!

Hello all,
I have a natural convection problem, in a cavity closed on all sides except at the top. I have a temperature profile on the side surface of the cavity that will induce natural convection. I am little bit confused about the type of boundary condition I shall use for the open top surface. There is possibility of flow into the cavity as well as out of the cavity through the same surface. Which set of boundary conditions shall I use for this surface. I invite your suggestions. Thanks, Varghese |

Dear Varghese,
I'd use a pressure-outlet. You have to set appropriate conditions for the 'reversed flow' wich will be used when the pressure outlet is actually an inlet. Although, if you expect significant gradients, you should take the surroundings of your cavity in your model. When you expect a continuos outflow near the walls and an inflow in the center (or the other way round) you should take a bigger domain. greetings, Laika, still orbiting |
