Hi, I am a new user of fluent and have a question.

I built a model in Gambit and export it as a mesh (*.msh) file. However, I can not use FLUENT to open this mesh file. In FLUENT, I use File>Read>Case, but it does not work. How can I open msh file in Fluent?

What message do you get in FLUENT?

In Fluent, I used File>Read>Case command.

Then I use Filter to choose my mesh file made from Gambit. I select my mesh file (its extension is *.msh) and then Fluent told me that:

Error: sopeninputfiles: unable to open file for input Error object: "h:/.../my_mesh.msh.cas"

from your mesh generator you obtain the *.msh file. Then what you do is invoking the right version of FLUENT (2d or 3d depending on your mesh). Then you just use: File+Open+Case, and specify your .msh file. When FLUENT reads the mesh, you still need to do some operation: Scale your mesh (if you created it in mm), Check the mesh (Check that the minimum volume and area are greater than zero). If you want, you can smooth the grid. Finally, it is interesting to visulize the mesh and check cell aspect ratio and stretching of the mesh near the walls.

Any case, if you created the mesh alright in Gambit, FLUENT should be able to read it without problems. Check that you are using the right version of FLUENT (2d or 3d). Your mesh file should be called name.msh.
