Default calculation of the initial values

When I define the boundary conditions at the velocity inlet, I define the turbulence intensity and the hydraulic diameter. Before starting the iteration, I initialize by the computer. It calculates the initial values of the velocity inlet. How does fluent calculate the initial values? I am particular interested in the calculation of the turbulence kinetic energy from the hydraulic diameter and turbulence intensity.

Thanks

Armin
