Default simulate radiation absorption within a porous zone

I'm simulating a cathalytic burner were the combustion takes place on an outer net, shaping a cylinder. I also have an inner net to get a better distribution of the fuel flow over the outer net. the radiation is going to make the inner net very hot through radiation from the outer net.

I asking: how do i simulate radiation absorption on the net, when i use a porous zone to simulate the net?

(is it possible?)

I don't think you can do what you want. In FLUENT, a porous medium is just a fluid region with an extra momentum sink term. It is completely ignored by the radiation computations, I think.

Yes you can't do this directly in Fluent.

I would also like to do this. I expect to have to add a udf source term to the p1 radiation model to account for the absorption. If that doesn't work, you can develop your own p1 type model using user defined functions - not an easy thing though.

You could also modify the energy equation for the Rosseland model.

I don't think it will be possible to make the required modifications to either the DTRM or DO model to account for the porous zone.

If you have any luck with the udfs please let me know.

Greg
