Sweep Real Faces, Time Problem !!!

Why is the "Sweep Real Faces" command using perpendicular draft (extended type), under a certain angle, so slow in operations? We tried to sweep a circular face along 13 different successive real edges (in order to construct an artery) and after the third sweep operation I had to wait for hours to achieve the result. We would say that the calculation time increased with the power law in these successive sweep operations. Can anybody help?
