Win NT, pre and postprocessing with large problems

Hi there, I just wanted to ask if someone has any experience with large problems, lets say 1-3 Million cells (hexa) and is working on an NT System. We think about buying either a SGI-workstation Octaine2 or high end PCs for the pre and postprocessing and don t want to run into problems with crashes, slow movements or zooming in Gambit ... like you get at other NT programs. Is the PC-version perhaps as efficient and on a high end PC as on the Octane, so we can spend much less money ? Thanks in advance

We build meshes in the range of 1-2 million cells in gambit using a dell precisin 420 workstation with 1 Gig of RAM. The system does not seem to crash too often (for an NT system). Also, the only time there is a noticeable slowdown is when examining the mesh quality.
