Default Boundries of rotating impeller created in Gambit ?

Hi,

I am working on mixing in stirred tanks.

I have created the geometry in Gambit : impeller, tank, shaft and baffles. I plan to use Fluent 5 as a solver.

- How to make the impeller and shaft rotating? - what kind of boundries should be defined for the the rotating shaft and blades in the cases of the use of fixed boundry conditions, multi reference frame (or sliding mesh) ?

Best regards Mounir

Hi mounir you've a project similar to me. i do the same thing, using pitch blade. first i've a trouble like you too, but now it's solved.

to make your impeller and shaft rotating with the same speed with your fluid , specify it as rotating wall relative rotation set to 0.

good luck

Due to the presence of Baffles, I think it is likely you will need to model the problem using a sliding mesh. There is an example in the fluent hand book. Also, specify the shaft and blade as walls and then specify the speed of rotation of the fluid zone around the blade and shaft. Jack.
