Hi, this is definitely a stupid question but I don't know how to determine hydraulic diameter whilst working in 2D ie with the geometry modelled as a surface.

I'm modelling an ellipse in a rectangular domain (meant to simulate an external flow). The only value I have to work out HD is inlet height.
In the worksheets I'm using, they use intensity & hydraulic diameter as the turbulence parameters but I have no idea how they got their HD value.

For reference, they had inlet height 20m & their HD is 1.306m, the bluff body has length 0.6096.

Hydraulic diameter is meant to be used mainly for internal flows, in your case it would be better to evaluate the turbulence parameters through turbulent viscosity ratio.
