I am simulating a scenario involving a 2D PCM rectangular domain where the bottom side is heated. The bottom wall contains pores to allow liquid PCM to seep out. Additionally, a spring is attached from the top, with parameters: spring constant k and natural length h (which equals the height of the rectangular domain). Initially, at t = 0, the spring is fully compressed to a length a, exerting a force F_0 = k(h-a) onto the solid PCM. As time progresses to t_x, the solid PCM displaces by x, altering the force to F_x = k(h-a-x). This force diminishes to zero as the entire PCM melts and the spring returns to its natural length.

I am familiar with simulating PCM melting using ANSYS Fluent. However, I am seeking guidance on how to incorporate this spring force into the model using Fluent alone. Someone suggested that this might require addressing it as a Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) problem involving Fluent + Structural. Nevertheless, I believe there should be a method to accomplish this within Fluent itself.

My primary challenge lies in how to integrate this varying force and how to define it as a function of the solid PCM displacement. The attached figure provides visual clarity on the setup.

I appreciate any advice or insights on implementing this spring force into my Fluent simulation effectively. Thank you!
