Pepithrow is on a distinguished road
Good morning,
I hope everyone is doing alright.

So recently I have been doing geometry in CATIA, and the geometry is quite "simple ", you can see it attached. (This one is from FreeCAD).

GeometryFreeCAD.png

The large cylinder around it is the control volume, which helps Fluent understand where the air inlet and outlet are located.
The red point and red arrows are for the inlet, and the green ones are for the outlet.

The small cylinder inside represents the fuselage, and the shape above is a proteburance, and I want to look at the flow around this fuselage.

I hope that the geometry is clear.

I made this geometry on FreeCAD, and tried a few things.
I exported it in 3 formats, .igs, .stl and .step, which are the only formats read by CATIA and Fluent.

I tried exporting these files in a geometry on Fluent, and added the named selections in SpaceClaim.

But when I make the mesh, it doesn't detect any fluid (see attached photo), so I can't continue.

When I am in the Describe Geometry part, it says either I need to apply Share Topology, or Make a non-conformal mesh between objects, so it basically means that it does not detect the inlet as a fluid, but rather as a solid.

But when I do the full geometry in CATIA, I have no problem.

The other thing I tried was to import the .step; .igs and .stl to CATIA and then import it in Fluent, but for the .step and .igs the problem remains the same and for the .stl I can't even import the geometry.

So does anyone know how to solve this problem, or if it's possible to solve this problem?

I hope my problem is clear, if you have any question feel free to ask, and thank you it you take some of your time to help me., I am vrey grateful to you.

Have a nice day.

P.S : I am not affiliated to any of those companies mentioned, these are just the software I have been using.
2nd P.S : English is not my native language, but I tried to be as clear as possible, and normally there are few or no english mistakes.
