Hot air balloon transient boundary conditions

Hello!
For my intro CFD class final project, my group is simulating a hot air balloon rising. To do this, we would like to use transient boundary conditions that match the speed and altitude of the balloon (ie, a velocity inlet above the balloon with velocity matching the balloon's climb speed and temperature and pressure matching the altitude, and a pressure outlet below with temperature and pressure as in the velocity inlet) My hope is to pull the net forces (ie, combined lift and drag) on the balloon, then from that calculate acceleration and use that to calculate a velocity and position at each point in time. I am familiar with using C files to specify transient boundary conditions (albeit not particularly versed in the language), but I have done some looking and haven't found a way to do exactly what I'm looking for. Any help would be much appreciated! |
