Question Reference Values Section Confusion in Fluent

Hi,

I am simulating a single compressor blade in fluent and i would like to know what sort of a values, i have to put for Area and Length in the fluent Reference Values section.

According to the picture, blue arrows indicates the surface of the INLET.

Within the Fluent environment, Reference Values are used to calculate coefficients; in particular I think that the length is useful for the Re estimation and the area for the lift and drag coefficients. You need to set them consistently with your problem. Usually for airfoils the length is the chord and the area is the planform area, not sure how to deal with the values considering a compressor blade.

Clarification, you only need to set reference values if you plan to use the calculated coefficients for your problem.


For compressor blades, where we rarely use Cd and Cl, or for problems where Cd and Cl are not relevant at all, you can set the reference values to anything, just leave it alone.
