Hi,
I am fairly new to using Ansys fluent. I am simulating combustion and I want to compare my results with a paper that I am referring. I have easily obtained the contour images and also some simple graph plots like static pressure & temperature within Fluent itself. In that paper (where they also used Ansys) they have plotted graphs for Combustion Efficiency%, and Total Pressure Loss%. I was wondering if I can make those kind of graph plots in Ansys for my comparison as well. If it is possible can someone kindly give me guidance as to how to acquire them, since I was not able to find it in fluent under the XY Plot feature. I am happy to give additional info if required. I am attaching the images of those plots in that paper. Thank you |

It's a pain in some parts of your body to do this in Fluent. Do it using excel, tecplot, matlab, gnuplot, etc.

Oh, thanks.
But how do I extract the solution data specifically for those two parameters? I couldn't find them when I tried to export the sol data. |

These are all post-processed quantities. They don't just jump out at you on the screen like pressure, velocity, temperature, etc.
Get the definitions from whatever literature you are reading. Total pressure loss is more-or-less self-explanatory. Both both of these are going to be some types of surfaces averages/integrals (and sometimes mass-flow weighted averages) that you get from reports. Then you get the report out of Fluent and into your plotting tool. |

Thank you. I now understand that I have to first define such specific quantities that are little complex so that Ansys will calculate and generate a report for me which I can use to plot those graphs. Unlike ordinary parameters such as pressure, temperature, etc. that are readily available. And I was able to see the 'Report definitions' option under which I saw some of the things that you have mentioned above. |
