Transient thermal simulation with steady state flowfield

Hi all,
I have the following problem. I have a flow channel with an object in it which generates heat. As a boundary condition I specify a higher temperature on one of the surfaces of the object. I have done a steady state simulation (SST k-omega) where I can see the flowfield and resulting temperatures. The next step would be freezing the (computed steady state) flowfield and solving the energy equation transiently. I want to slowly heat up the surface and see how the heat propagates through the object. This is where I am having some troubles. What I do is I write the steady state flowfield into a profile. I then load this profile into my model and under the cell zone conditions of the fluid I check the fixed values box. I then set the fixed values to be the values from the profile (velocity, turb. kinetic energy and spec. dissipation rate), only for the temperature I do not specify anything as I want this to be determined by the energy equation. When I run this simulation, the simulation runs extremely slow (even slower than solving both temperature AND flow transiently), how is this possible? I am doing something wrong with my methodology or am I missing something? Kind regards thx |
