Hello

I'm doing a 2D analysis of the flow around two gears. I have created structured meshes around both components and a structured background mesh. After starting up Fluent (2020R2), the overset option is not available and no background or component zones are found. The single meshes are displayed overlapping in fluent, but an interface cant be created. The boundary conditions can also not be set to overset.

I have used overset in 3D Problems before and it always worked fine.
Does anyone have an idea what may cause the Problem?

Tanks in advance

Hi

Have you named any boundaries as overset in meshing/ or anywhere when you name it eg, wall, inlet, outlet etc ?

Hi, thanks for your answer.

I named all boundaries accordingly to their functions while meshing. I actually resolved the problem by loading the Workbench Project onto a different computer (same Fluent Version).
I dont exactly know why, but on the other PC it instantly worked...

Ok, that is great. Hey if I may ask, what post processing tool are you using to generate contour plots for overset mesh simulations ? CFD post does not do well !

I just use the built in post processing tools in Fluent (at the bottom of your toolbar). You can create Contours/Vectors/Animations etc. very well in Fluent and its compatible with overset.
