Imporving lift of an airfoil

Me and my friends recenty learned Ansys FLuent and are trying to increase the lift generated by a standard airfoil by modifying the profile.
I have attached the original and the modified profile We did two simulations and used the following solver settings: Model : Spalart Method : Simple Inlet velocity : 7m/s and 0.1 m/s(for the second simulation) In case of First simulation(7 m/s inlet air) we got an improved drag(less than original) and improved lift (more than original) but for the second case (0.1 m/s) we got exact opposite results, i.e. lift and drag both were worse. It all depends if at different air speeds you get flow separation.
If you post pics. of the velocity contours it will be possible to tell. |
