Hello,

I am using Ansys FLUENT 2020 R1. My question is about the use of a 'surface' injection type for a discrete phase (DPM).

For my simulation, I want to introduce droplets at the curved surface of a cylinder. To this end, I created a new injection and selected the 'surface' injection type under 'set injection properties'. Using these settings, I want to introduce droplets at the selected surface and give these droplets both a normal and a tangential velocity component. Unfortunately, I cannot find the option to switch to a cylindrical coordinate system (which is possible for an inlet boundary condition). In addition, if I select the 'inject using face normal direction' checkbox, I cannot specify a tangential velocity component.

My question is whether someone knows a solution to my problem? At the moment, I can only directly specify X-, Y- and Z-Velocity components. However, in my case these velocity components should depend on the position due to the curved surface. Ideally, I want to simply define the velocity components in cylindrical coordinates. As an alternative, it might be possible to use a user defined function which sets the X-, Y- and Z-Velocity components at the proper locations on the surface (but I do not know how to do this and whether it is possible). I see the latter option only as a last resort.

Best regards,
Dny

Hi, I am looking to do something similar where I need to specify the velocity of the particle injections in cylindrical coordinates but am unable to find a way to do this. Did you find a solution for this?
