Hello ,

I am doing the simulation of shear rate dependent non-Newtonian fluid flow in ANSYS fluent. I am trying to find the dependency of viscosity and shear rate in this flow. Can anyone tell me how can I find the shear rate applied in wall during flow?

Shear Rate is reported as Wall Shear Stress. As far as viscosity is concerned, it is a user input. However, if you want to plot, then it is available under Properties. E.g., if you go to Contours, Wall Shear Stress is available under Contours of Wall Fluxes and Viscosity is available under Contours of Properties.

Hello,
I don't really understand what you're saying. Shear rate and shear stress are two different values, especially if you have a non-newtonian fluid you can't easily conclude from WSS to shear rate.
Thanks in advance

Yes, you are correct in saying that shear rate and shear stress are two different values. What I meant is that it is reported as shear stress not that they are same.

But then shear rate is also available, except that you have to combine the components. Velocity gradients are directly available as outcome under Derivatives.

Hello;
I need to monitor shear rate values in a non-Newtonian fluid volume. I am suing ANSYS CFX. Strain rate monitor has already been defined by the program however, i cannot find the proper way to monitor "Shear Rate" to the system.
Does anyone know how to do that?
Thanks in advance.
