Dear experts,

I have air going through a plate. Plate has some openings.
Openings are created on a rectangular pattern (rows and columns)
I would be interested in knowing the mass flow on each of the openings.

I am trying to create a bounded plane on each of the openings through TUI commands (/surface pb name x0 y0 z0 x1 y1 z1 x2 y2 z2).
Problem is that Fluent takes more and more time to create each surface
first row of 87 openings is created in 4minutes, second row takes 11min, third row 25min, fourth 45min and so on)

Any hints on how to get the spatial distribution of mass flow on the openings would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Carles

If the openings are named boundaries, you do not need to create any planes or surfaces to fetch any details. You can directly fetch details from the boundary names.

In case, you used same name for all the openings, just go to Mesh > Separate > Faces and then separate the openings using Region method. It will separate all the openings into different regions. Then, you can just report the field values for each opening separately.

Vinerm,
Unfortunatelly the openings I am interested in are not part of a boundary condittion...

Then what are those? Since you mentioned those as openings in your first post.

Sorry for the confusion,
Air goes from a volume to another volume through a plate that has some slots/holes (like picture below).
I hope that is more clear now...

Usually, for such scenarios, it is better to give those openings separate names at the CAD or mesh level. However, even within Fluent, a better option would be to mark the all the cells either before or after the plate. If you are simulating the plate along with its thickness, then you can just mark the cells within the plate thickness, e.g., if flow is along z-direction and plate is located between 0.04 and 0.045 along z, then mark all cells within 0.04 and 0.045. Once marked, separate cell zone using the register. Then, you will have clear boundaries available for all the holes.
