Dear all,

I am simulation Heat Transfer in slinky coil type Ground Heat Exhanger in transient. The Ground Heat Exchanger is buried 1.5 m from ground surface. initial The temperature distribution is collected from experiment field. Due to computer limitation, I just simulate one turn of slinky coil. I see many papers of Ground Heat exchanger use vertical side of ground as adiabatic boundary condition settings. But, my supervisor asks me to do Constant temperature Boundary condition according to temperature in ground distribution from experiment. I plan to simulate for 7 days of flow time. I am confused which boundary condition i should use. I would like to know the effect of both BCs in physical application in Ground Heat exchanger.

Thank you

Best regards
Teguh

Your domain needs to be large enough such that both BC's give the same results. The only way to find out if that's the case... is to run both of them.

Dear LuckyTran

I see. Yes, I think the only way to check it is to run both BC's effect on the simulation result.

Thank you for your help
Best regards
Teguh
