Hi everyone,
I am simulating 'Plugging' operation of complex tubular structure as shown in attachment. From figure, you can observe, the fluid domain will be very complex. In plugging operation, required boundary conditions are 1) It is steady state case in which 1500 psi pressure is applied while there will be no flow throughout the domain since flow will be chocked at the bottom portion (shown in brown color). I want to analyze net force on mandrel (green color) 1) Now, for this operation, which model should give me appropriate result, since there is no flow, how to choose model? 2) In future, suppose I want to flow fluid with boundary conditions as inlet and outlet mass flowrate (10bpm to 20 bpm) , how to calculate Reynolds no, since lot of variations diametrically, and in that case which model to chose? Thanks. Regards, SANKET |

1) Any model works. As you noted, there is no flow. You might as well choose laminar so that there's no influence of any turbulence or wall models.
2) There's too many length scales for a single Reynolds number to make any sense. Don't even bother. Last edited by LuckyTran; December 10, 2019 at 12:03. |

Hi Sir,
Thanks for replying. Can you suggest me boundary condition for cementing case?. I want to analyze pressure in two different chambers. I only know mass flow (in and out - will be same). Is this correct boundary conditions? Thanks. |
