It has i7-8750h processor with 16gb of ram and 256gb ssd in which Ansys is installed.
while running fluent in paralle with all 12 processors cp never utilizes itself to its full while performing iteration. it goes like 20 to 30 percent max 40% with clock speed of 1 to 2 ghz with max going sometime to 3ghz. sometimes it goes to 100% but its rare and iterations then become really fast and thats what i want. I have set 12 processors in affinity too and changed the pririoty to high but no difference. Cant get of out this problem. I solve problems with cells around 5 million and thats why i want it to utilize itself to 100/90% always. Is there any practical solution for this fix. |

The base clock speed for this processor is 2.2 GHz. If you are running at 1 GHz, then that's interesting. If you are on windows then check your power settings to make sure it's not limiting your cpu performance. Also check cpu temps, because it might be overheating.
Anyway, you need to establish a baseline without thermal throttling and without turbo boosting. If you can't achieve 100% cpu utilization at the base clock, then that hints that you have a bandwidth limitation somewhere. |
