Hi, guys
This is a student who is simulating cyclone separator thesis results validation.

I have tried to validate results with the following set to validate thesis CFD results, cut off size.
But, I have not validated thesis results...

I can send you my case and mesh files.
Please contact me...

* Setting up

Model
1. RSM
steady 6000 -> transient 20000(time step=0.001s, Max iteration/time step=40)
2. RNG ke

Grids
780000 ~ 800000

Hybrid initialization

Cut off size(different two designs respectively)
Thesis= 0.72, 0.72 micro meter
My simuation= 0.83, 0.9 micro meter

Hello wayne,
I remember fighting against a cyclone some time ago, have you tried to adjust the reflection coefficients of the wall?

Hi sir,
Thank you for your reply.
I just adjusted trap, and reflect without reflecting wall coefficients...
Could you give me advice?

I set up the entire dust bin as trap

Hi!

By applying a reflect factor to the walls the energy of the particles will decrease, increasing the number of particles trapped by the cyclone.
As a result, I would expect a lower cut off size.

Anyway, this is a way of adjusting the results, in order to get a validated and solid simulation you should consider referring to literature about those factors or similar experimental setups.
