I want to simulate Shell and Tube heat exchanger in order to know the distribution of temperature (especially to validate my design and know outlet temperature) and distribution of pressure (or pressure drop). My model consists of tube fluid domain, shell fluid domain and tube (solid). Steps i've done are :
1. Named selection Hot-Inlet, Hot-Outlet, Cold-Inlet, Cold-Outlet, Tube-Fluid, Shell-Fluid, and Tube 2. Meshing 3. Turn on energy and k-epsilon realizable, standard wall function 4. Define tube-fluid and shell-fluid as water 5. Define tube as aluminium I've problem with defining boundary condition of heat exchanger. What type of boundary condition I've to choose and what to type in that boundary condition box ? Boundary condition in order to know the distribution of temperature and pressure. I've watched youtube tutorial, they choose convective as their boundary condition (on tube solid) and then type value of heat transfer coefficient. Must we type the heat transfer coefficient in order to know the distribution of temperature ? because I want to validate my calculation/my design, if I type heat transfer coefficient, it can't become validation of my calculation, right ? Thank you for your help.. sorry a lot of question, still new in CFD simulation. My Heat Exchanger Data : Number of tube : 734 Number of baffle : 9, 25% cut segmental baffle Tube length : 6 m Tube fluid inlet and outlet temperature :30 and 34 celcius (water) Shell fluid inlet and outlet temperature : 41 and 36 celcius (water Mass flow rate of tube fluid :95,74 kg/s Mass flow rate of shell fluid :76,58 kg/s STP file of my model : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hvg...ew?usp=sharing |
