hi everyone
i want to model a flat plane solar panel in fluent. it gets the radiation and produce electricity and you know gets hot. efficiency of pv will decrease by increasing temperature. so i have to measure the temperature and calculate efficiency and then i will have the production of my panel. in fluent, how can i define boundary condition ? i mean how can i extract the power from my domain according to temperature and efficiency maybe a heat sink i dont know or write a UDF please help me with this thanks a lot |

You have to use either a volumetric heat sink or a wall heat flux.
My question is how do you propose to calculate the efficiency from the simulation? The efficiency is an external parameter would should be assumed known via a model or equation already. The efficiency comes from the performance of the PV cells and the photoelectric effect, which is not simulated in CFD. And what is the goal of this simulation? Are you trying to determine the temperature after accounting for the PV efficiency? Because that's all the CFD can tell you is the temperature. |

that right . i want to know cells temperature and surface incident radiation on pv.
i should extract this power otherwise the temperature gets high. i use this formula to calculate efficiency eff=19.4*(1-0.004*(T-25)) and then p=G*eff*area this is my electricity can you help me with udf code ? thanks Last edited by pouriyana; April 19, 2019 at 18:19. |

Have you decided whether you want to use a wall heat flux or volumetric heat source?
T is wall surface temperature or local cell temperature? Please be precise with these formulas. I can't help you code if you can't tell me what needs to be coded. And then what is P? and area? And... G? For a heat flux you use a DEFINE_PROFILE macro, with a F_PROFILE to define the profile, and F_T to get the face temperatures. |

both are good , i think volumetric heat source is better to absorve energy what do you think ?
and sorry for that. T surface temperature of pv G sun incident radiation p power that produced by panel area of solar panel |
