Hello all,
This is the first time i have touched cfd and I need to use it for a class to run analysis on a multiplate heat exchanger but cant even seem to get a results with just a super simple 2 plate heat exchanger. Regarding the cell zones: The fluid domain vs solid domain: would the fluid domain be the inlet surface only? which is a tube inlet and the makes sense to me. But what about the plates the fluid flows over to get to the small tube outlet on the other side of the exchanger? Would you specify that as solid? Because I keep getting the error "Flow boundary zone n is adjacent to a solid zone (x). This problem MUST be fixed before solution can proceed!" Attached is a photo of the HXr. Ignore the chevron angles on the plates, im just using flat for now. If anyone could shed some light on this that would be super helpful. Cant seem to find any tutorials on plate HXr's as the set up for each different geometry out there is super confusing if you are new to this. Im just trying to get results at the moment even if they are super wrong. I'll go back after to refine mesh once i can just get through the process once but been struggling. |

that error message you're getting is because a flow related boundary (such as inlet or outlet) is adjacent to a cell zone (i.e. volume) which is specified as solid. Flow parameters cannot be specified if it is adjacent to a solid.
Pls share some images of your case-setup if you need more help |
