Hello
First some short introduction of my person: I'm Daniel and currently working on some projekt for my masterstudies in Hamburg. For this projekt i want to calculate the forces on a propeller for modelships, i designed in a former project. For this i use a single moving referenceframe on a pipelike domain with no-friction wall on the outside. For modeling and calcutions i use Fluent 19.2 in Workbench. Now i want to investigate effects of the diameter of this pipe. For keeping the initial Mesh (i call coremesh), i want to add so additional layer on this core. Because i couldnot find a possibility to do so without changing coremesh in the mesher i wanted to create the coremesh and the layer seperately and combine them in Fluent. Therefor i exported the layer out of the mesher as *.msh and the core is in the Mesher of the WB-Module. For combining i start Setup as parallel and the core is loaded, cause it presence in the mesher. For adding the layer i use "Mesh->Append->Append Case File". By selecting the Option i get the first Message which says: "This operation is not supported for automatic up-dates and will only be used for current session. Do you want to proceed?" When i continue, i select the layerdata and get the Message, some IDs changed. After that i define the boundaries, the interface and other settings. The Mesh looks like this at this Point. Schicht_6D.jpg When i start the Calculations i only can select:"Use settings and meshchanges for current calculation only" The calculatios work ok and the results look qualitytivly good. The transport across the interface in normal direction looks good; parallel it seems like there's a dampening. velocity_interface_6D.jpg Now the Problem: When i close FLUENT and reopen it there's a Message: "Surface groupings have changed. ..." If i want to display the velocity-vectors, the surfaces of the layer and the interior are missing. I tried several Options to keep them. With merging the interiors and inlets, outlets i can display these, but objects i can't merge with others from the core are lost anyway. I hope i gave all informations needed and some have an option for solving the Problem. Maybe even an explanation, why the interface seems like an dampeningface for nearly parallel velocities. Best Regards Daniel |

I think it's a problem with syncing with workbench. If you use Fluent by itself, I think its not a problem anymore.

Thanks for the hint. In first tests it seems to work as expected. It keeps the Meshes and Interface after closure and i can work further with the calculations and solutions.
