I am looking for the max. temperature generated at the energy source and flow of air by fan inside the system. I'm using axial fan for forced convection to cool down the heat sink mounted on the PCB.
I'm trying to simulate the model in fluent by using Mesh motion method to rotate the fan (referred from Youtube tutorial by Raef Kobeissi), but I'm not getting appropriate and accurate results. I also tried by 3D fan zone method to simulate the fans, but the analysis is not running in this case due to error. Would anyone kindly suggest me the appropriate method to simulate this kind of analysis in fluent? I'm a newbie in CFD for thermal. Is there any reference or tutorial available on the web for similar problem? |

Although FLUENT can be used for this type of simulation, I would suggest using ICEPAK which is easier than FLUENT for simulation of electronic cooling.

Thank you so much for suggesting me this wonderful tool. I think I'm getting appropriate results with ICEPAK and without any complications. Is there any drawback of using ICEPAK over manual Fluent CFD modelling? I don't think so, but still clearing out this doubt. Last edited by Loki; February 16, 2019 at 06:07. |

Hello, I am getting a 'PID error' on trying to generate a mesh in Icepak (image of error attached). Can someone tell me what the issue may be? |
