cgrossma is on a distinguished road
I'm pretty new to Fluent so I'm assuming this is most likely a quick fix/simple mistake. For context, I'm simulating a sphere in a wind tunnel.

When I try to run a simulation, I initialize and click calculate and am immediately given the following error, it does not actually do any calculation:

Error: display-object: No rendering surfaces have been set.
Error Object: #f

Error: Error Occured during handling message in WorkBench: Generic Command

Error Object: #f

I previously ran a simulation on the same model and mesh with no problems, the only thing I've changed this time is the initial condition of the speed entering the wind tunnel. Does anybody know how I can set the "rendering surface" to be the object in question (and if this will fix the error)?

It might be worth noting that I did close and reopen fluent in between simulations, upon reopening I was given a message stating that surface groupings have changed and that that has resulted in surface list selection changes.

It is a simple mistake but I'm not sure what it is you're doing to say what is the mistake.

It has nothing to do with initial conditions.

When you make a plot, you specify the surfaces (literally one mouse click)... Question is why you are not doing this? What are you doing? Also you get this error when you press the calculate button and not the display button? That also sounds strange...
