Hi everyone. I'm working on a transient simulation of air flow inside a duct on ansys fluent. I need the total mass of air that exits the duct, however i'm not certain of how to do that. Has anybody done something similar?

thankyou.

Create a monitor/report of the mass flow and export the transient instantaneous mass flowrate for all timesteps and dump it into a text file. Then read it into excel/matlab or whatever and integrate it in time.

thankyou very much. I believe i'll have to run the calculation again, because i set the massflow monitor but i haven't selected the "report File" option.

Yes you'll need to run it all over again. The .dat file only contains the current solution, all history of the solution is lost.

There are other ways to set it up using a possibly very complicated udf that does the same task as writing to a text file and integrating yourself. But either way you need to rerun it.
