Currently I am trying to make a DEM model using ANSYS Fluent. I have had this DEM model in Star CCM, but I am new for Fluent.
Here is the details of this DEM model - a rotating screw is placed in the center of a vessel, the liquid with large density is in the vessel. The balls (density is smaller than liquid) are injected from the bottom surface of the vessel. The balls are able to extracted from the outlet where is located at the top of the vessel. Please find the attached figure. Since there are several choices of meshing - Sliding mesh, overset mesh, dynamic mesh...etc in ANSYS Fluent, I am not sure what type of mesh I should use that enables screw rotation? I used overset in my Star CCM modeling. However, I notice that there are strict limitation for overset mesh in ANSYS Fluent. So I am not sure which mesh is best for my DEM modeling. Your advices are appreciated. Thanks, |
